Darren Morrison 2005 DHRA World Champion

The DHRA, www.DHRAonline.com, finals concluded November 12th at Houston Raceway Park with Darren Morrison of Garmon's Racing crowned race winner and DHRA Pro Street 2005 season champion.

Morrison, driving his Cummins powered 1997 Dodge 2500 4x4, continued his dominance on the track for his 2nd consecutive year. Heading into the final race, Morrison had a 30-point lead over 2nd place contender Kevin Meredith of TS Performance, and a 65-point lead over 3rd place Phillip Palmer of Stuckey Racing. "This championship is what we worked all year for," said Morrison after he defeated the Stuckey Racing truck in the final round. He added, "Our team worked long hours to stay in front of some great competition". Morrison currently holds the DHRA ¼ mile ET record of 10.50 seconds. His 10.58 seconds in the semi-final round to defeat Jeff Prince earned Morrison's spot in the final round against Palmer. "With the support of Sun Coast Transmissions and Extrude Hone, we pulled out a great win," said Morrison after Saturday's victory. Morrison's truck recorded a best ET this year of 10.32 seconds and best trap speed of 129 mph at 5600 lbs without the aid of nitrous oxide.

Morrison adds about the transmission, "at our last tear down, we were pleased with what we found inside which was a perfect unit after 40 passes".
